ASIET was inaugurated on August 31st 2001 by then Chief Minister of Kerala Sree A. K. Antony. It started 4 branches of engineering Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, Information Technology & Electrical & Electronics with 180 students as the first batch.ASIET is the first new generation engineering college which has acquired ISO certification in Quality Management by 2003. In 2004 the college launched the first national cultural and technical festival called “Brahma”. By middle of 2004 the college started its new course in MBA with first batch intake of 60 students. The ASIET has conducted a national conference in Management “ Sankara Darshan”, which was inaugurated by Dr. M. B. Athreya, Management Guru.

The first batch of engineering has come out in the year 2005 with excellent academic results under M.G. University with five university ranks and 85% pass percentage. In the first batch itself the unique record of placements of 85% was achieved in various Multi National Companies like Infosys, Oracle etc.

 The college was proud of the visit of His Excellency Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam then president of India who had an interaction with students of the college. In 2005 it has started a new branch in Engineering - Applied Electronics & Instrumentation. ASIET has started a full fledged state of the art, infrastructure for Mechanical Engineering branch in the same year. In 2007 AICTE has approved additional intake of 60 students in Electronics & Communication. In the same year the campus became wire free.

 In 2006 ASIET has started Campus Connect program with Infosys, Bangalore. In 2008 TCS has given accreditation for the college. In 2008 college has conducted free computer literacy program for people in Kalady Panchayth. In 2009 the college has implemented various innovations projects which was demonstrated to Dr. A. Shivathanu Pillai, MD of Brahmos. ASIET has started water harvesting projects in the campus. Under innovative project program “multi utility vehicle” designed by Mechanical Engineering students was first of its kind. In 2010 M-Tech Computer Science was started with first batch of 18 students. The college is proud to announce that the Research Centre in Computer Science was inaugurated by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on 13th October 2010. It has also achieved 5 university ranks in 2010 with 85% pass percentage.
